After the analysis of the results collected from the survey we were able to make clear indications of what the audience want in a thriller film.

  1. The results gathered made our choice of a thriller genre film certain as a positive 100% of people who took the survey liked this genre.
  2. We also found our that the preferred location of thriller films were dark, deserted places, which we as a group responded to and had our film location in the resmat room. This is a room which looks very mysterious because of the different equipment along with it being dark.
  3. The survey also told us that people much prefer physiological thrillers, with 50% of the people who took it highlighting this option. As a group we then worked with each other to create our thriller to become physiological in some ways, we done this by having the male protagonist unidentified throughout the 2 minute opening to create a mysterious feeling to the audience leaving them thinking about this man. Along with the abstract clips we used throughout the project, by us doing this left the film opening weirdly scary in a way.
  4. 60% of people who took the survey said that they liked a thriller which involved mystery and intensity. My group and I then added this into the film once again by having the storyline very unknown to the audience in the first 2 minutes shown, leaving them thinking about what is going to happen in the rest of the film. The unidentified characters also exaggerated this mysterious feeling which the audience wanted to feel.
  5. A big 80% of people from the survey said that they would like to see a bad guy and a psychopath in thrillers. From this information the group decided to try and put these two characters into one. We done this by having the baddie in the film being shown to do strange things in the film, for example we had him sharpening a knife, rearranging newspaper clippings and drawing on pictures with blood. This then enhanced the psychopathic characteristics we wanted him own.
  6. We also asked the people who took the survey if the main protagonist in the film is typically male or female, from the answers we found that a huge 100% of people listed that they felt male protagonists usually dominate thriller films. Which we then took into consideration and had our main character being a male.
